ONGOING ORAL HEALTH CARE
Teeth Cleaning and Dental
Hygiene Checkups
Do you brush twice a day? Do you floss at least once daily? If you’re not, you should be! Good oral hygiene is essential for keeping your mouth healthy, and it starts at home. Even with regular care and proper brushing and flossing habits, you can still develop oral hygiene problems. Cavities and gum disease are especially common. That’s why regular visits to your dental clinic are so important.
The Canadian Dental Association recommends patients get a checkup every six months. These checkups let dentists spot and treat oral hygiene problems before they become a serious issue. Your dentist will also recommend treatments, while our team of trusted hygienists will carefully and gently clean your teeth to keep them strong. Clean, healthy teeth and gums can help you feel great and may save you money down the road.

Frequently Asked Questions
We get a lot of questions, naturally, about the wide range of dental services we perform here at our Kanata & Kemptville dental clinics. Here are the answers to the most frequently asked questions. Don't see yours answered here? Feel free to reach out to Yazdani Family Dentistry.
We recommend that you have an appointment for teeth cleaning every 6 months. This will ensure that new stains and tartar formations will be removed in a timely manner, prevent gum disease, and maintain optimal oral health. If you have periodontal disease, then it is necessary to have your teeth cleaned more often, once every 3 months.
Teeth cleaning is a very straightforward procedure and can be completed in a single 30 to 45 minute session.
Teeth cleaning is not painful in any way if your teeth and gums are healthy. You will feel some pressure and vibrations in your teeth during the procedure as the dentist or hygienist uses their tools to clean your teeth. If this makes you uncomfortable, let your dentist or hygienist know and they will do whatever it takes to help you feel more comfortable. If you do feel any pain during cleaning, that is a strong indication of cavities and gum disease.
